Search Marketing Standard

I’m a big fatwallet fan and I use it for free magazine subscriptions. J signed me up for one called Search Marketing Standard, a magazine about online marketing. I got the first issue, read it, and was generally pleased. This morning I got a really nice, personal style email from one of the publishers that I thought was an excellent example of how to properly market a product. Check out the line in bold for what really got to me.

Dear Keeton,

This is Boris Mordkovich – the Publisher of Search Marketing Standard.

I am very pleased to announce that the 2nd issue of our magazine will be mailed out within the next two weeks. U.S.-based subscribers will begin receiving the publication in mid-August, while International ones will be getting it at the end of August and early September. However, postal service delays do occur, so please allow an extra week or two for your issue to be delivered.

Due to your requests and with the support of our advertisers, we have made this issue larger than its predecessor and have included more intermediate and advanced content to help you improve your search marketing efforts.

[long list of advertisers here]

I would like to thank the advertisers that made this issue possible. We highly encourage you to check them out and take advantage of the special offers they made available for our readers:

Once you receive the magazine, please email us () with your questions, comments and suggestions.

We want to know what you think and your feedback is very important to us. Every single email will be read and responded to.

Thank you for your support and we hope that you will enjoy reading our Fall issue.

Best Regards,
Boris Mordkovich
Publisher

Since I had actually referenced his magazine in a previous posting here at Danifer.com, I sent back some of my critique. This is the kind of sales communication that works well on me because it feels personal (even if it isn’t) and makes me feel important.

Boris/SMS now have my email address and contact information and have opened the doors to a positive customer relationship. I’ll probably get an individual response back from my email and that, in addition to a quality product, will practically seal the deal for recommending their publication to others.

Thanks for the email Boris! I like Search Marketing Standard and even referenced it in my blog: http://www.danifer.com/blog/niche-market-sites.html

Frankly, I liked the size of the last issue. Magazines aren’t something I sit down and read all the way through in one sitting, so there are parts I didn’t get a chance to look at yet. But that’s only one voice. If you’re getting requests for more content, I won’t be turned off by a bigger issue. It sounds like you’ve ramped up the advertising which is fine, just so long as the articles maintain consistent quality.

Sorry I don’t have a better critique for you, but I just couldn’t think of much to change. Maybe put your website address on the front cover. It didn’t leap out at me and I had to go to Google to find your homepage.

Have a great day,

Keeton
